The Baumalight S40 uses a bent-axis piston motor and dual hydraulic swing cylinders to move its cutting head across stumps and surface roots. The 85-degree swing supports cutting in both directions while the skid steer stays in place. Both motor configurations include the skid steer mounting adapter.
A 1¼-inch steel rotor carries 12 H3000 teeth with concave carbide tips. Each tooth has three usable cutting-edge positions; indexing the tooth exposes a fresh edge before replacement. The hinged shield opens for access to the cutting wheel, while two rows of chain curtains help direct chips during grinding.
Select the motor to match the carrier’s available flow and pressure. The S740 has a 20–35 GPM selection guide; the S770 extends the charted selection to 25–50 GPM. Both require a case drain. A flow divider balances oil between the rotor and swing cylinders so swing feed can be adjusted to the cutting load.
