Manure Spreaders

We sell horizontal- and vertical-beater manure spreaders from Artex, JBS, Meyer's, and Penta Hagedorn. Farm and commercial models vary by box volume, floor system, beater arrangement, PTO requirements, and running gear.

Horizontal and Vertical Beater Systems

Our vertical-beater choices come from Artex manure spreaders, JBS, Meyer's manure spreaders, and Hagedorn manure spreaders. We also sell the horizontal-beater Meyers HB160 Manure Spreader.

The beater system, rear-gate setting, floor rate, and material consistency all affect the resulting spread pattern. JBS offers an optional Hurricane attachment with horizontal beaters, spinners, and an adjustable rear gate for lower-rate application of lightweight and fine materials. The attachment is not standard on the vertical-beater machines.

Manure Spreader Capacity

Struck or level capacity and heaped capacity are based on different volume measurements and should not be compared directly. The table compares model capacities on their stated bases:

The Penta Hagedorn 5440 Manure Spreader is rated at 684 cu. ft. heaped. Meyer's calculates the VB capacities to ASAE 324.2 JUL2018 with a hydraulic gate as standard.

Box and Floor Construction

The Artex SB family uses twin vertical beaters, a chain floor, a 0.5-in. Super Slide poly floor, and 10-gauge steel box walls. We sell the Artex S200 Manure Spreader within this vertical-beater family.

Both JBS VMEC2448 and VMEC2648 models have a 10-gauge box, long-link 5/8-in. Grade 100 floor chain, galvanized removable cross slats, dual floor drive, UHMW plastic floor, and Vertimax vertical beaters. The JBS VMEC2648 has 629 cu. ft. struck capacity and 769 cu. ft. heaped capacity. The JBS VMWB3048-36 has a heaped capacity of 1,110 cu. ft., vertical beaters, and triple-axle running gear.

PTO, Hydraulics, and Running Gear

PTO speed, tractor horsepower, and hydraulic demand vary by model. Artex SB models have model-specific horsepower requirements and use 1000-rpm PTO, while Meyer's models use 540- or 1000-rpm PTO depending on the model. Tell us your tractor model so we can check the PTO and hydraulic requirements of the spreader you choose.

Artex offers model-specific single-, tandem-, and triple-axle configurations. JBS VMEC2448 and VMEC2648 spreaders use spring suspension with tandem axles.
