Farm King 482 Grain Cleaner, Up to 1,900 BPH Capacity, Integrated Screens

The Farm King 482 is a rotary grain cleaner for corn, wheat, soybeans and other grain crops, supplied with an electric motor configured for single-phase power. Its 48-inch-diameter drum uses two-stage screening to separate oversized material and fines in one pass. A standard trash pan and auger collect the fines and carry them to a separate discharge.

Trash and fines

The inner cone screens out larger cob pieces, stalk fragments and other coarse crop residue that cannot pass through its openings. The outer drum separates smaller material such as broken kernels, kernel chips, fine stem pieces, loose grain dust and small weed seeds that pass through the selected mesh.

Clean grain leaves through its own chute, while large trash and fines discharge separately. Removing fines before storage helps air move more evenly through the grain and removes material that is more prone to spoilage than whole kernels.

Screen cleaning may also remove some shriveled, mold-affected kernels and mold-bearing fines. Mold spores can remain on the grain, and screening does not reliably eliminate mycotoxins. Suspect grain still needs testing for mycotoxins.

Grain and screen choices

Farm King provides paired cone-and-drum screen recommendations for corn, wheat and soybeans, along with sunflower, milo and flax. Wheat uses a finer drum screen than corn to retain its smaller kernels. Choose both screens around the crop, actual kernel size and the material you want to remove.

Capacity and feed control

Farm King rates the 482 at up to 1,900 bushels per hour, depending on grain type, moisture and dockage. The 8-inch by 11-foot intake auger has flow control for regulating the feed rate. Adjustable front legs change the cleaner’s tilt, and the cone flow control lets you adjust trash discharge to limit the amount of good grain leaving with oversized material.
