Overview

The Baumalight DR438 is a heavy-duty 38-inch industrial tree spade from the DR series, engineered for professional transplanting operations that demand maximum durability and reliability.

It produces a 38" diameter root ball with a 27" depth, making it ideal for evergreens up to 4" and hardwoods up to 3.5" caliper. This industrial-grade model comes equipped with advanced electrical control options, providing enhanced precision and operator convenience for professional operations.

The DR438 features a dual-hinged swing frame design that allows the towers to swing open to 17", providing improved access to the tree and better visibility during digging operations. The industrial DR series is built with reinforced components and higher-grade materials compared to standard skid steer spades, making it suitable for high-volume commercial nurseries and demanding landscaping operations.

Four 5/16" T1 high-strength steel blades in a semi-truncated configuration provide superior soil retention and exceptional penetration in clay or compacted soils.

Industrial-Grade T1 Steel Blades 

Thicker 5/16" T1 steel construction delivers superior edge retention and durability compared to standard mild steel, extending blade life in high-volume operations.

Long-Life Nylon Sliders 

Maintenance-free nylon sliders cover all four tower sides, eliminating greasing requirements while allowing effortless blade movement without binding.

Dual-Hinged Swing Frame 

Dual-hinged frame arms allow towers to swing open to 17", providing improved tree access and protecting lower branches during extraction.

Two Adjustable Stabilizers (Standard) 

Adjustable stabilizers mounted on the skid steer plate enable quick field adjustments for different root ball sizes without additional equipment.

Heavy-Duty Construction 

Reinforced frame with hardened AISI 6150 spring steel bushings at all pivot points and zinc-plated greaseable pins ensure long-term durability and smooth operation.

Advanced Electric Control Options
